Land Swap

Through a land swap agreement in 2025, Mariucci Family Beacon House purchased one acre of underutilized parking area from the Upper Peninsula Medical Center, which has then been exchanged with Marquette County Habitat for Humanity for the parcel of land located directly adjacent to Beacon House.

This innovative partnership ensures that Beacon House will have vital access to the neighboring property for future growth and development to better serve patients and families traveling to Marquette for medical care. At the same time, Habitat gains land that will allow them to build additional affordable homes for local families in need.

“We got the property we wanted with the land and Habitat got the land they needed to continue to do what they’re doing,” Dale Moilanen, Beacon House Board President, said. “It was actually a quadruple win: win for us, win for Habitat, win for the Medical Center and win for the city.”

The parcel, next to the house, will be used for future exapansions.

Mariucci Family Beacon House would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Marquette County Habitat for Humanity, Upper Peninsula Medical Center and the City of Marquette for their roles in helping this agreement come together.
